JFK Jr.’s Preferred Quiet Retreat
In March of 1991, JFK Jr. and his fraternity brother Richard Wiese stayed in this room! Judy Helfand, the innkeeper at the time, remembers their stay quite clearly:
"At the time, we did not have private baths, ceiling fans, phones in the room, room televisions, or AC, but he loved it. And remember, he was very tall, and room 9 has the slanted ceilings! We had 120 guests that weekend (in those days your rooms 19, 24, and 25 were the 40-bed bunkhouse), serving breakfasts and dinner. He visited with his fraternity brother, Richard Wiese. I was the only person who recognized him, that is why he liked the inn, he could relax. By the way, he tried to come back the next winter, but we were sold out!"
