Women’s Ice Weekend – A Thrilling Adventure for Female Climbers in North Conway

February 4, 2025

While most people use vacation as an opportunity to relax, the idea of lounging by a beach makes you yawn just thinking about it. Guided by the International Mountain Climbing School (IMCS) expert Jeni Calzaretta, Women’s Ice Weekend offers a rare opportunity for like-minded ladies to immerse themselves in the sport of ice climbing. This intimate group setting fosters both personalized coaching and a strong sense of camaraderie, making it an ideal environment for learning and adventure.

Going to the Top Together

Designed for female climbers to come together and push their limits, this weekend is all about refining skills and gaining confidence. You’ll learn expert techniques and finesse from Jen while focusing on movement and terrain management.

While beginner ice climbers are welcome, prior belaying experience (gym or crag) is recommended, as belay instruction will not be a focus.

Each day kicks off at IMCS with morning yoga and a gear check before heading out as a small, supportive group to tackle the ice!

The Weekend Includes…

  • Two full days of instruction and guided climbing on Saturday and Sunday
  • All the equipment and gear you’ll need
  • Morning yoga to energize you and prepare your body
  • A group of no more than 8 women, ensuring you get plenty of instructor attention

Meet Your Instructor

A New England native, Jeni discovered her passion for climbing in the Mount Washington Valley and has since dedicated herself to the mountains. As the head of Women’s Programs at IMCS, she thrives on empowering new climbers to explore the outdoors independently.

Jeni is a certified Ice Instructor through the American Mountain Guides Association—one of the few women in the country to hold this credential. She has spent the past several years climbing rock, ice, and alpine terrain across the U.S. When she’s not guiding or instructing, you’ll find her trail running, cycling, and blasting metal. She’s also training to serve in the U.S. National Guard.
